My name is Milagros or Mily, and my artist name everywhere is @milysminimart. I’m a first generation Cuban-American artist and designer based out of Miami, Fl. I have a passion for making warm and playful art that feels somewhat nostalgic and whimsical; and making art that resonates with girls and women everywhere! But not only do I enjoy creating playful art, I also love making/researching new and interesting color palettes, as well as aesthetic graphic designs and themes. I graduated from Florida International University in May 2024 with a degree in Communication Arts (Design and Media track) and a Minor in Art. I took many diverse art media and communication courses, so I would say that I’m very confident in my knowledge on these topics.
I have worked with a variety of art mediums, but I mostly use digital, paints, and pen/ink. I love learning new art mediums and techniques that I can add to my toolbox! The inspiration for my art mostly comes from my life and current interests; that could be anything from my current obsession with the Japanese TV show Sailor Moon to pansy flowers because they’re in season. Sometimes inspiration comes from photos that I’ve taken of places I’ve been and things I’ve seen that I find visually appealing or cute. I think this is why my art leans to be bright, whimsical, and crafty; because my art reflects who I am.
I hope my future holds many new and exciting opportunities to learn and expand in my professional career. Wherever I end up, I aspire to get to know my peers and company well so that in turn we can be successful and work together efficiently.
